Our story begins with the strong foundation that was the legacy of Geren Burton. In 1996, Geren and Randie Burton purchased this land, driven by their dreams for future generations to fall in love with the land, cattle, and horses. They founded the Leaning Oak Ranch.  Their vision is now becoming a reality through their granddaughters.

 

Meet the Smith girls, who are at the heart of Burton Smith Beef. Ciara, set to graduate from Oklahoma State University Veterinary School in May 2024, brings her passion for animal care and expertise to our operations. Cidney, a graduate of Texas Tech in 2021 with a degree in Agriculture Business, contributes her knowledge and business acumen to our endeavors. Carli, on track to graduate in December 2023 with a degree in Agriculture Communication from Texas Tech, plans to pursue her masters in Embryology at Colorado State, bringing a specialized focus to our ranch. These three remarkable young women are actively involved in the Burton Smith Beef production, applying their knowledge and expertise to ensure the highest quality in our offerings.  Their dedication and commitment shine through in every aspect of our ranch.

 

But they are not alone in this journey. In 2020, Curtis and Tawni Smith returned to the ranch, fueling its growth and innovation. Together, they started Burton Smith Beef, a venture dedicated to providing grass-fed, grain-finished beef. We take pride in our commitment to sustainable and ethical practices, ensuring that our cattle are raised in a healthy and natural environment.

 

At Burton Smith Beef, we believe in supporting local businesses. That's why our grass-fed, grain-finished beef is processed locally at the Nocona Meat Company. This partnership allows us to bring the highest quality cuts of meat straight to your table while supporting our local community.
